Research Interests:

Work Experience:

Research Intern, Central Fuel Research Institute (CFRI), India, Department of Coal Petrology
December 2003 - November 2004
bulletRoles and Responsibilities:
bulletPerformed manual petrographic analysis - maceral analysis and Vitrinite reflectance measurements to ASTM standards- of Australian, European and Indian coal through MPV compact microscope.
bulletDetermined gray values of vitrinite and inertinite through image analysis software in DMRX microscope.
bulletDelineated coking and non-coking coals through microscopic analysis.
bulletDetermined pore diameter, thickness and micro-petrographic characteristics of char through image analysis.
bulletUnderwent training on X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) and Atomic Absorption Spectrum (AAS) techniques and their respective software in CFRI (Coal Combustion) unit.
bulletProject work: "Reclamation and development of well to enhance availability and potability of water in CFRI" - an endeavor that started with an abandoned well, analyzed the rate of influx/percolation of ground water into the well, the storage capacity, and potability of the well, and proved conclusively that the water was capable of meeting the scarcity of potable water in the arid area of its location.

Researcher, Jadavpur University and University of Calcutta, Departments of Geology
